I think the notion of government bitcoin reserves is kinda crazy. It gives government more power over the bitcoin market. I don't giving governments an influential role is a positive step. Bitcoin should remain in the hands of the people, seperate from the machinations of government.

The thing in, governments can acquire massive quantities of coin, which would would then allow them to manipulate the markets. They could send the price plummeting by selling large quantities, or raise the price by making huge purchases. Either way, it makes me nervous.

Yea I fear more of them setting up enough nodes to have major influence on the network. It can fork or people are left with crappy upgrades if they don’t read the fine print.
