It's sad seeing so many popular custodial LN wallet services shutting down. Normies aren't going to run a node, no matter how much anyone hopes they will. They'll simply sign up for KYC services if they use lightning at all because that's all that will be available here pretty soon.

Mutiny no bueno?

It's good if you don't mind losing a shitload of sats to channel open/closes.

Sounds no bueno. Is that a lightning limitation or a mutiny wallet issue? Can’t they fix it?

It's a bit of both I'm sure, but not just limited to Mutiny. Lightning inherently has fees when opening and closing channels, especially when it's a force close. Mutiny or any other self custodial lightning wallet will occasionally have issues. I've seen quite a few people post over the months about channel closures with Mutiny specifically, but that could also just be because a lot of people here use it because of its integrations with Nostr.

Sounds like an infrastructure problem

Yep, *people* will use KYC, get over it.

They'll use custodians as much as they can, because they generally don't understand the goal of bitcoin.

The 99% will always gravitate to the easiest solution

nostr:npub1xnf02f60r9v0e5kty33a404dm79zr7z2eepyrk5gsq3m7pwvsz2sazlpr5 is great and not very difficult to use, and self custodial.

If you are not even able to use Zeus, I don't think you should be in Bitcoin at all, because that means you always choose the easy path which is usually the worst, and that means you are lost.

That might be true, but most “normies“ won’t self custody and run a full bitcoin node either.

Self sovereignty has its costs. Maybe one day it will be easy. Are we in the hard times makes strong men stage?
