Thanks. Hmm judging from the description of its capabilities and LanguageTranslatorService.kt it does appear to use entirely on-device language detection and translation. The features description says the quality of the downloaded language models is only for simple text. The higher fidelity cloud translation API does not appear to be used as all which is good.

This means my guesses were entirely wrong about how it currently works. I probably can't successfully delete that post. I'll be back tomorrow with a revised analysis. I still want overrides to toggle translation on each post. It's literally doing the opposite of what I want now and I have no options.
