How are they pushing bitcoin? How many people have you spoken to and how many expressed hate for bitcoin?

You are asking me how advertising a product (zaps) pushes a product? I'm not against Bitcoin but denying that nostr clients are trying to market bitcoin through zaps is silly. As for the second part of the question: How many twitter users do you think understand bitcoins AND lightening never mind be persuaded to use them or set up a lightening node? Its really hard to onboard people with bitcoins. I've tried persuading dozens of people. And lightening is even harder as thats a next step beyond. When nostr clients advertise bitcoin via an ever present zaps button, it makes one question if nostr is a) mostly for people who understand bitcoin or/and b) its an app primarily interested in promoting bitcoin. And the answer to both of these questions is MOSTLY (not wholly) answered with 'yes'. Also You said yourself 'Crypto is a turnoff' so I'm not sure why you are disagreeing.

*Dozens of ppl IRL. And IRL is all that matters.

Nobody is persuading anyone to use zaps. Maybe some people suggest it but that has nothing to do with the concept of nostr and just those users being bitcoiners.

Zaps button is on every Nostr client i've tested. And its front and central on the UI where one writes posts. You are splitting hairs by implying there is a meaningful difference between suggesting and persuading . But also answer me this: why are there no paypal buttons?

To my surprise you are correct. It seems most clients DO show zaps button by default. I think this is a UX/UI mistake.

I stand corrected.

I don't disagree that Nostr should be seperate form bitcoins/zaps, can be and mostly is. But that just isn't the public perception. And if you want proof of that , just type what is nostr into google: mainstream hacks brings up the integration with bitcoin and Jacks association with it and micropayments etc. The perception matters as much as the reality. And when you try out Nostr for the first time you see zaps button everywhere and perception is confirmed by reality. Now I don't care, bitcoin is great,. but for many people bitcoin IS a turnoff as you yourself said in the original post. The Nostr community needs to consider if it wants to push bitcoin before its got of the ground as a mainstream social media platform it should become.
