Moving your 401k?
I did the same thing last year. Except financial institution A mailed the check from the US to my address abroad. That took two weeks. I received the letter and put the unopened letter in an envelope to send it to institution B back in the US. This took three months. I'm still amazed that the check actually arrived.
Three weeks of bad weather following each vehicle your check was in? That's incredible! And I do mean that very literally.
