I can see a world where people transact some in Monero but save in Bitcoin and primarily transact in Bitcoin. The only hope for Monero to gain in value vs Bitcoin is to come from the bottom up. The poorest people have to use it, which isn't going to happen because it's harder to use than Bitcoin, and Bitcoin is already quite a big leap for 95% of people.
