I couldn’t justify the cost of a proper greenhouse, and couldn’t bring myself to waste money on a flimsy one, but I was tired of using my inadequate carport for plant starts. So with a little creativity and about $10, found pallets, and scrap wood, I built a quick test greenhouse in about an hour. It’s primary purpose will be for soil blocks since they cannot get rained on. If this “works”, I’ll spend a little more time on a proper one that my wife can enjoy instead of being repulsed by one of my creations.

The qualifications I needed for a greenhouse can be summarized by the following:

-keep rain off seedlings

-provide consistent light

-be open air so the temperature stays down (too hot most of the year for an enclosed greenhouse)

Let me know what you think and what I can improve!

Looks great. An old shower door or two would be a good roof upgrade. Paint always makes things look better and it can be free if you don't care about the color too much.

Good idea for the roof! A surface coating of some nature will probably be in the future for the next iteration.
