Nothing wrong with people's personal preferences.
From a freedom maxi perspective it's always about free choice over coercion.
People are free to use custodians they trust like CEX or fedimints. It's just that most don't know or don't have the capacity to understand what they sign up for.
Agree with everything you said. And I think many will like ecash (I use it for zaps right now). I just think it's disingenuous when some say it's a replacement for Monero or try to handwave away the custodial aspect.
I posted this graphic on the fediverse and someone said "why are you ignoring the lightning network, it's totally not custodial," and I had to explain that I lifted the graphic from a system built on the lightning network. the guy was unfamiliar with the documentation materials and didn't get past a wikipedia level understanding of what was told to him by maximalist influencers. most of the cheerleaders of lightning garbage do not understand what lightning is, or that it is so poorly designed that it rearranges itself into a custodial system. they are just following a script.
when you debate a maxi, most of the time they don't understand what lightning is or what is being done with it. they did not actually read the documentation. they are just repeating what they believe they are supposed to say so that the price of bitcoin will go up. they never look at the documentation and try to understand the real consequences.
