Sometimes people tell me that learning how to use nostr is too hard.

I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed and it was easy for me so I’m trying to figure out where the problem is?

It's really not that hard. And I've literally learnt this week how to use basic functions in Microsoft Excel. If I can manage anyone can lol.

I’m like man if I can figure it out literally anyone can. 😂

I think if I were to onboard someone I would just tell them that making another account is so fast that the best thing to do would be to start with a throwaway npub, play about, maybe make mistakes and then bin it. Start a new login with what you've learnt.

But really tbf, this isn't nostr's biggest complaint. This is sort of what devs *think* is the biggest complaint. In reality it's the 'crypto chat' and lack of diversity of conversation / communities / topics / subcultures....

(yes yes I know bitcoin isn't crypto etc etc lol)

It is a bitcoin group chat where I post my cat. Every now and then I get lucky and someone posts meat they are cooking. 😂

People insist it's not a bitcoin chatroom, then you point out that it sort of is, then they tell you that that is actually a good thing. It's quite a funny ol' place this nostr thing.

It is both good and bad. It’s good if many bitcoiners use it. It’s bad if someone wants content that’s not bitcoinish.

Nostr is too small atm to have a reputation to a wide audience (most people have never even heard of it). I think it would be pretty bad if it cemented a reputation of being a bitcoin chatroom / bitcointwitter2.

Yup. Not great. I havent made it my entire personality to promote nostr (although I want to) because I don’t think that people will stay. They might try it but they won’t stay so it would be a waste of my time.

Yes, nostr (besides bitcointwitter expats) is for people who actually seek it and are perhaps slightly bonkers and can stomach the BTC chat, there's no one I know who would stay lol.

It has actually improved in this regard from when I first joined tbf.

Oh god so I’m in the slightly bonkers camp 😂

There is no other camp here, sorry. 🌝

It’s cool. 😏

Wait, I forgot. You might be a beekeeper. That's the other option. A bonkers beekeeper.

That weird ass skitzo bot tho. 😐

You got me beat there. I'm allergic to Excel 🫠

So am I lol. But employers seem to insist on it.

It is surprisingly nifty tho. I won't badmouth it too much cos it is kinda 'cool' lol

Sheeple gonna sheep.

I don't get it either.

Pick a client, and start posting just like on any social platform

Yeah that’s what I did. Just regular stuff. I’d say that it’s easier to figure out than instagram.

I used insta maybe a couple of times, and I agree.

It's not that they can't they just don't see it as worth the effort.

Their loss

I cant say I completely get it 😅 I spun up my own relay just now, but still confused what gets saved where 🥲

People make up excuses to never change.

they have to actually want it, then the "how" will follow

You’d be surprised at how dumbed down a UI has to be for it to not confuse the average consumer.

I think people **really** don't like asking for help, Even if it's their job & they're good at it & do it all the time.

They love "easy" apps because it sidesteps the issue. Dark patterns and all. They feel smart.

Meanwhile I've had folks tell me Strike was too complicated, a 4 button app, but mental gymnastics are an olympic sport I guess.

yeah it never made sense to me. I think it's more like a defeatest attitude before they even begin to try something new

Too bad. Nostr is, I’m worth more tech. It’s, I deserve actual freedom, tech.

sum return 2 imprisonment Cuz they get used 2 it & can't handle freedom/
