Cracked the hive open today to see how the ladies were doing. I fear I was a little late. No sign of a queen. No eggs, or larva.

Numbers looked good though. Maybe there she was in there and hasn’t started laying. Idk.

how quick do they generally start? is blending another small colony make sense?

I’d say with the mild winter we had she should be laying eggs by now.

Gonna keep an eye on them for a little longer.

I’ve a got a backup plan with overnighting a queen to keep the hive together.
