They consolidated their position, there's no real competition for this generation anymore so they don't have to worry. Even Xbox accepted defeat. It's bad for the consumer but it is what it is. Also they are most likely in the middle of development season and don't have much to show atm.
I don't think this is the reason since it is not the first time they skip the event.
