As far as I know BTC is a fork of the original Bitcoin vision.

Removing segwit and taproot add on, plus removing BIPs that devs deemed unnecessary has changed the protocol.

You can't trust a changed protocol, but that's what it is. It's why Blackrock suggests they can increase the cap supply..
