Yep. The “Satellite protocol” as I used to call it 🤣

nostr:npub1lunaq893u4hmtpvqxpk8hfmtkqmm7ggutdtnc4hyuux2skr4ttcqr827lj what about #nostr made you wanna switch to an entirely different protocol?

What was the state of your product (how deep were you) before you switched?

Do you have any sacrifices or setbacks to your product as a result?

There are so many setbacks and limitations its sad ...

The key thing was relays. Standardizing the transport layer to something simple and dumb. Digital signatures are the magic, transport just has to work.

The main thing about the old version of Satellite that I gave up switching to nostr was deep integration of BitTorrent (which is why I have been trying to make that a thing in nostr this whole time haha)

We should rename Nostr to "BitNotes" so it pairs better with Bitcoin and BitTorrent.

It's actually not a bad idea haha

nostorent … I’m so dumb.

What would bring to nostr?

A way to move media, not just metadata.

Of course. Then we wouldn’t need to upload images each to a single media relay … seems like nostr will move this direction? #nostorent

🌸

So yea. Stuart. Looks like you can have your cake and eat it too… 🤞🏼

Funny how nostr is like that….

It’s a mess on the inside, but endless potential as well. Exciting to be here.

"It used to be based on ethereum. Nothing on-chain but just signing messages with eth addresses and distributing the data with torrents. In December I found out about nostr and realized that it was just a way better than fucking around with metamask so I rebuilt the whole thing for nostr"

Turned out to be a very good decision
