Zuckerberg: “I think the goal that we went into it with wasn’t to make an online community, but sort of like a mirror for the real community that exists in real life.”

I started talking to my first real boyfriend through Facebook cos I was too scared to approach him in life drawing class 🤣 I’m so lame, I know 🫂

That’s awesome 😁

🫂🫂🫂☺️

dang. why does mark sound so chill in this video. sipping out the red cup too 😂😮‍💨 real frat bro vibes

Right? Just building something he thought was cool and useful. Makes me wonder which of the current chill nostr devs just building something cool useful today will be sitting before Congress years from now answering questions. 😅

please learn from their mistakes 😑

it is no fun answering questions in front of congress. you have to go there first of all. there is traffic. you have to shower.

facebook was cool the first few years. when things were actually still social networks and not this social media nonsense.

I was just thinking about this as I saw a post from nostr:npub1r0rs5q2gk0e3dk3nlc7gnu378ec6cnlenqp8a3cjhyzu6f8k5sgs4sq9ac who was talking about the ups and downs of a UX design giving people "trust scores": Social media should be a testing ground or a staging area for political action.

Social media (that is free and open and principled) has so much potential to develop or improve social interactions and has the advantage of being a wholly artificial system which can be completely disconnected from physical reality. That said, obviously there is overlap in infrastructure and of course the human elements of the system, which means that social media can have massive impact on "the real world" as well, which we have obviously already seen to a certain degree over the past 15 years or so.

The problem, from my view, is the negative feedback from history, politics, and economics in "the real world" into social media which has been simplified and weaponised against the revolutionary potential of the system, and this is why projects like nostr and bitcoin with a principled user base need to reject appropriation by all institutions, namely governments and corporations.

Zuck the cuck sold out first chance he got and is now just another tyrant vying to accumulate more undue wealth and power.

Nostr seems to be what Zuck wanted to build back then.

What, a platform to perv on women?

You clearly did not watch the video…

I did, I’m just aware that Zuckerberg chats shit.

Making people aware of his backtracking was the point of the video. What he talks about in it, particularly in the previous note, is similar to what I see Nostr becoming:
