Microtipping is a cool usecase but making it centerpiece of nostr is IMO the wrong play.

Zap counts should be auxiliary, a curiosity.

Using them as engament metrics or poll votes just sets the wrong incentives.

If you go far back my note history, you will find I defended the exact opposite and trashed note reactions while claiming zaps were the real signal.

I was wrong and I have since changed my mind.

It was fashionable to trash reactions on Nostr, but they can provide useful signal when you consider reactions within your web of trust.

Exactly. Ideally reactions should be weighted by WoT. Each user would see a different score for the same note.

I never have an issue with changing my mind. I just prefer to put that on the public record so thay later I don't get called out in a future argument.
