NordVPN works great, and their audits have been all clear, as far as I know
MullVad is also widely recommended and they accept Bitcoin for additional privacy

pq.hosting has some nice wireguard services for 2 euro a month. yes, they accept bitcoin. getting wireguard clients running can be a bit complicated on linux tho.
i personally think that specialised vpn services are a dumb idea privacy wise. most sites are figuring out which big vpn ip addresses are and they are starting to partition us out from them. that's why i like the pq ones, they are basically a cut down, single purpose vps with your own private IP address, and only allow one connection at a time.
these are unlikely to get flagged as VPN addresses any time soon.
the performance reflects their dedicated nature too. very minimal additional latency.
I would go with Proton VPN.
Proton has a nice ecosystem going on with Mail, Calendar, Drive, VPN and Pass (password manager).
It’s free with a basic plan and you can get a premium membership for 9.99$/month.
They accept Bitcoin.
It’s for me a turn key one-stop shop.
They have onion site (tor) and APK files if you want to side load on Android.
You should at least check it out!

Proton VPN hands down, with all its other services like Proton Pass, Mail, Calendar, etc. There are other good ones but Proton gets you set up for all other services - you don't even have to remember passwords

My only issue is that all the emails to other services go to their junk mail.
the privacy u think proton gives does not exist when emailing w addresses from other servers like gmail/hotmail, or so I've heard at least

Fix your settings. The paid Proton is great for everything, but if your concern is email, you may try Tutanota. Runbox, is way pricier than Proton. I've had GMX for several years, and only changed my password recently, as advised by GMX. GMX has always been my favourite, Tutanota next, and Proton, but Proton gets you set up for all other services
Mullvad, you don't need to provide an identity to use which you have to do by tying your e-mail to proton or other services.
I think the best browser is Brave. You can open Tor private windows there as well. They have a paid VPN built in, would suggest using that. I used to do NordVPN, which is also good, but always having a VPN on I found slows down too much. https://brave.com
