Okay , question. Is there a way to edit a post that has already been already sent? I really didn’t mean to send my intial post to this platform just yet, so forgive the typos it has, I was trying to edit the typos and the before sending and fat fingered it when trying to type. If not, no biggie. I’m really just curious about the functionality as a whole, as I’m not a newbie at all to crypto and blockchain tech, but I am a newbie to nostr and its overall functions as a whole.
If you use Amethyst, you can but only other Amethyst users can see it. Otherwise, no. Editing isn't a thing.
I didn’t think so from looking at some initial data I had just skimmed over and half ass looked at before joining the party here, but I figured I would ask just in case.
It's actually a current debate. Some want editing abilities, others don't. It would require some significant programming changes, and the agreement and cooperation of many developers, so I'm not counting on it even though I'm in the pro-editing camp.
The first thing you're gonna want to do is get your NIP-05 and your lightning address setup. Your NIP-05 is your Nostr address in the format of an email address. There are lots of NIP-05 providers, and some are even integrated into lightning wallet provider so you kill two birds with one stone. For newcomers, I recommend Coinos.io It's a lightning wallet and address provider, completely free. Head over there and setup your account. Then plug your @coinos.io address into your profile for NIP-05 and lightning. That will allow people to find you using yout address instead of your long-ass npub, and enable you to send and receive zaps. Lemme know when you got that going and I'll help you test it out and make sure you're all good. After that, sky's the limit. You'll be an old pro in no time!

So you got your @coinos.io lightning address? You'll want to add that to your profile. Not sure what client you're using, but you should see a function to edit your profile. That's where you enter the name you want for yourself, your bio, and other stuff like that. You want to plug that @coinos.io address in the NIP-05 field (it may be called something else depending on your client), and your lightning address field (sometimes referred to as an LNURL). Save your profile, and you'll see the changes reflected. If you take a look at mine, you'll see slcw@rocky.nostr1.com, which is my NIP-05, and slcw@zaps.lol which is my lightning address. You should have something similar on your own profile. Let me know when you have that finished, and I'll try zapping you.
