It's inappropriate to think you're entitled to a tip from the people you're supposed to be waiting on, because you feel like you're not paid a fair wage, even though you agree to do the job anyway.

Ironically, 100 years ago, Americans thought the practice of tipping that they encountered in UK was disgusting and a sign of degenerate society!

They were correct.

Wait. Places are expecting a 35% tip? You better have provided one hell of a service

Tipping, that's some dumb shit.. If I am ever in such a venue, I might just say "Oh your boss said he'd give you a good tip for serving me. Just tell him you waited on is mate Jack"...

I used to cook. The main reason I don't now is the pay difference and bitchy servers. This was in a tourist town that was crazy busy in the summer.

I tried to get a tip bucket for the cooks or get tipped out if a certain threshold was crossed. The servers had no problem ordering stuff that was not on the menu to get a bigger tip. They didn't like it when I refused to make it 😄

That is way too high.

5-10% if service is meh but food is good.

10-15% if service and food is good.

20% if the food and service was truly outstanding.

If the service is good and you don't tip at least 15%, stay home, ya cheap bastard.

I ain't tipping 20% on takeout, tho. That's crazy.
