a group of white supremacists is posting to relay.nostr.band using a mastodon bridge
freedom of speech is important, but intolerance is inexcusable
I will be removing relay.nostr.band from my relay list

It was only a matter of time. Do operators have control over this?
What do we do if its in other relays? Or posted in our replies. We cant delete these things. This is a concern.
We should have infrastructure to block replies at the very least in my opinion.
I think we can stop from seeing them but not them being posted? I might be mistaken. I know when people turned off likes i could still like their posts. They just wont see.
I think it would be against the ideals of #nostr to block people from replying to notes period, however, being able to stop yourself from seeing those replies would be a good feature. this also starts to get into how to handle the #BOTissue
we choose the relays we read from and post to
Oh absolutely. Filtering words etc is a great start to accomplish that and make the site generally more useable for the general public if the far right infiltrate. That’s the last thing we need for the publicity.
agreed. need to find a good middle ground between absolute freedom of speech and algorithmic content moderation and suppression
"Relays can be dumb" is a principle we should not discard lightly.
Don't cancel relays because they don't monitor and censor their content. Even the WEF could post on wss://powrelay.xyz and I would not remove it (as long as it had the necessary POW).
The proper solution is client side filtering. Gossip plans to introduce powerful capabilities with Lua scripting, perhaps you could train a simple ml model to exclude content you find objectionable and still benefit from all relays.
