so did our frogtalk one that fishcake set up
Ah we are talking about different things. I want asynchronous comms on nostr:
To me it’s just a particular kind of client that has an inbox where I can tag/archive/delete content and works offline. Encrypted threaded convos. Public threaded mailing list convos. Email bridge.
Asher Pembroke has a pretty nifty prototype where he actually encrypts Gmail data with Nostr keys

Hi Will, right now I have a program called Hoot that I am working on

It’s incomplete, like very incomplete, it is missing so many features that would be necessary for a minimum viable product, but it kind of works.
It’s nostr mail based on gift wraps. The program is Egui and Rust. It has no local encryption whatsoever.

I mean technically speaking, if we could find a way to:
- Have a dumb SMTP server listen on p25
- that sends each email to a script,
- the script figures out who this went to (npub),
- converts it into a DM, assigns it an nsec ("address book"),
- and sends it to the related npub.
... insert clamav or other antispam stuff in there, for good meassure. Buut probably possible. I faintly remember seing an SMTP server hostable as a library in NodeJS that can technically do that.
