I don't understand why I always have to write wss:// before a relay address. That's so irritating.

I am aware of that.

I'm saying it's bad UX.

Like requiring people to write out HTTPS:// before an Internet address.

Couldn't agree more. These improvements will come naturally over time. We are still early.
