What about TRT
Discussion
This is what I was aiming at, mentally ill.
So you think middle aged men who supplement their declining testosterone to natural levels are all mentally ill?đ
First of all change your framing,
Previous levels* not natural levels.
Secondly, yes - the motivation is to look & feel younger when you aren't.
These are the types that can't accept aging.
These hormones do not extend life either, in fact they probably shorten your life & stress your organs.
Look at Joe Rogan - he looks sooooo bad from it - prob regrets it in many ways.
There are many people who have seen objective improvements in quality of life from restoring test to adequate levels. Iâm not on TRT but know some people who are itâs helped them a lot. Theyâre not mentally ill and their life is much better post TRT than pre. Sorry to report.
If you showed me their habits I'm sure I'd see a subpar human health regimen in too many ways.
The anomaly that has genetic defects is not what I'm alluding to.
People who don't understand proof of work when it comes to health all end up benefiting from the magic pills / chemicals.
It always was & will be the easy way out.
I donât disagree that they werenât optimal pre intervention. Hardly anyone is. I myself hadnât even heard of carnivore until about a year ago and Iâm 41. Trying now myself and seeing benefits.
But the average America just has no clue and if TRT can help people then so be it. Doesnât mean theyâre mentally ill, more so just ignorant imo. It may not extend their life but it can lead to better quality of life. Being stuck on a pharma intervention is not ideal though and I am with you for the most part.
I do not want to be on any medications and luckily I am not. I think optimizing my diet will help me get fully optimized and hopefully pay off down the road.
If they aren't taking care of their health with intention they are mentally ill in my book.
Doesn't mean I fault them for it, and I treat them with compassion.
Youâre just throwing everything into your own made up definition which has 1 user. It doesnât fit with the actual definition and itâs not part of the language protocol so of course people will disagree with you, because according to the language protocol every one uses, youâre wrong.
I get that you like to argue, but youâre arguing with people about your made up definition of word when youve not even stated that youâre using made up definitions for established words. This is why philosophers start by laying out definitions, so these type of dumb useless conversations donât happen.
Itâs retarded behavior and a waste of time and some may say making up your own definition to try to be ârightâ and not telling anyone else is a clear sign of mental illness đđ
I'm using the definition correctly, you're angry with me for stating my opinion - you came to argue with me not the other way around.
My opinion could be different from yours, that's fine.
After sharing your opinion I still believe that people who live lifestyles that are so clearly unhealthy are mentally ill.
It might be inherited values from their parents & no fault of their own - but the definition of mental illness is clear & an animal who didn't know what was good for them we would call mentally ill or retarded or autistic or w.e label works for you.

You just committed the âcherry pickingâ fallacy.
Youâre putting everything you donât like in the mental illness bin. It doesnât work like that. Mental illnesses are diagnosable conditions, not your personal pet peeves.
Someone who doesnât understand how to eat properly isnât mentally ill, theyâre just ignorant.
Someone who does TRT to combat low energy, low sex drive, muscle wasting etc isnât mentally ill, theyâre addressing issues with a medically viable solution. It isnât perfect but it isnât âmental illnessâ either. In your make believe world, sure. But thatâs irrelevant.

Label it whatever you want, I think mental disorders are a spectrum & all lead to subpar health outcomes.
The OP is still the same:
I find it hard to believe these interventions provide anything but high time preference pleasures to people who have always lived that way.
What do you mean, Joe probably regrets it? He looks like a damn ninja turtle!
But he probably feels great so he doesn't care.
I agree with most of it being a mental health issue but TRT can give men some confort that can trump all the potential downsides (if it's done responsibly).
The gym rats, IBBF wannabes, men and women? Mental issues for sure.
Joe Rogan is far from a healthy example.
Tattoos by themselves fuck up your Testosterone & Testicles.
Imagine all the alcohol & other supplements he's taken.
Probably a long time user of Testosterone, before middle age if I had to guess.
Those men you speak of aren't living a health driven lifestyle so I deem them on the spectrum of mental illness.
Priorities signal mental health.
