Half‑time status: You must be enrolled at least half‑time in an eligible degree or certificate program.

Participating school: Your college or university must be part of the Direct Loan Program.

General federal aid eligibility: You must meet basic requirements (U.S. citizen or eligible non‑citizen, valid Social Security number, satisfactory academic progress, no default on prior federal loans).
