Hey Rust nerds. How do I setup VSCode so clippy doesn't check every single dependency every time I save a file!?

I have zero idea of what you’re talking about, so I guess this one’s best left to super nerds! :)
Probably in the settings somewhere for rust-analyzer.
That's what I thought... haven't been able to find it...

try checking "rust-analyzer.checkOnSave"
"rust-analyzer.checkOnSave.allTargets": false
this might help, but there are many options to fine tune, what and when the rust-analyser checks.
Not an answer to your question, but if you’re annoyed by how slow clippy is, it sounds like there’s work being done to speed it up significantly: https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-project-goals/2024h2/optimize-clippy.html
I don't use VSCode but it looks like something is invalidating your entire build cache. An env variable changes every time or something.
Memorize all the clippy rules ofc!
I use RustRover though
