Do devs actually write code anymore or do they just use an agent?

Be honest.

fuck the machine, I write the code that runs on it (sometimes)

How much devving do you do usually?

not relevant

last time I tried to use it to help me improve some code I spent longer telling it it was hallucinating npm packages, functions within the my code, and not providing useful input.

sure, I wasn't using the latest model, etc.. but aside from straight forward actions (i.e. make me a pretty front end)

I see many applications for AI, translation and internalization as well biomedical research. excites me.... but for programming more serious applications I rather have a senior dev who knows the code and can reason around it.

I'm somewhat of a developer myself these days....

We all are 🤣

If you know of an agent that good, please let me know šŸ˜‚

I’m using Cline and Roo

I don’t even know what that is, but before I look into it, do you honestly think those tools are good enough to build full scale production apps?

I don’t know. I’ll let you know if I make something that works

If you can use those tools to add custom emoji reactions to Damus, that would be awesome šŸ˜‚

That’s super easy lol

Nah. If it was, we would already have it. Been asking for it for like a year.

Hmm, I’m reacting with emojis. Or do you mean like specifying your own?

Damus lacks a lot of features sadly. If you want features we’re told to use Nostur

Nostur doesn’t have it either and I also I prefer Damus

Don’t we already have that?

Negatory. Custom emoji reactions don’t even render in notifications. It just renders the text.

I’m surprised you haven’t made a fork to implement that

I remember all the changes you made to your forked version of Primal Web

Brah my MacBook is so shitty it can’t even run Xcode. Das why I just write JavaScript šŸ˜‚

I'm a web developer for my Fiat mining job, and our company uses copilot. It's pretty good at auto-completing code that I start writing and saves me quite a bit of time. But I don't use it to build full components or features. Just a tool but I like it.

The trick nowadays is knowing how to debug ;)
