Nostr is already a decentralized p2p betting platform.
No shitcoin smart contracts or trusted oracles. The bet security deposit is your social reputation and the eternal shame of losing a bet and not paying up.

Yes it's a relay network. Not p2p
It's p2p regarding the "betting contract" not regarding the communication network layer. That's like saying that bisq is not p2p because it communicates over tor.
The people who are building nostr said this and I believe them 🤷

What you read is correct, you're just applying it out of scope. Bitcoin is p2p electronic cash but the participants also don't need to communicate p2p.
