I’m looking to buy a home defense rifle and shotty. What do the plebs recommend? #asknostr

Here you go bud, from the legend Paul Harrell.
Cool I’ll watch in a bit. Thank you.
Moosberg 500 or Benelli for the shotty. Beretta 1301 isn't bad either.
Thank you
Exactly.
Get one with as much tube capacity as you can. My defense shotty is a 20" Mossberg 590 with the 7/8 round tube. That will handle nearly any situation 50yds/m and closer very authoritatively.
Shotguns, especially pump actions need much more training than you expect. It is NOT intuitive to load them. It is NOT intuitive to be able to shoot them quickly and accurately. And yes, you must aim. This isn't a movie and buckshot doesn't take out a whole hallway full of bad guys in one shot 🙄
Make sure to not have a choker when hall way blasting
I hope I don’t have to blast any hallways!
Excellent. Information. Ive shot guns my whole life but need to get non hunting equip and I’m planning to take a trip involving tactical training for fun and learning
I picked up a used Mossberg 590A at a local shop a decade ago. It was a former police pistol grip short cruiser. It is one of my favorites. Just simple and scary. Has a thumb safety to get used to but incredibly useful and easy to move in tight spaces.
16" AR15 with an mlock foregrip that's at least 10" long, a good rifle light, sling, and at least 7 top teir non-plastic 30 round magazines. (I prefer the aluminum Duramag for defense use.) Start with good metal sights and try a bunch of sighting systems (I prefer 1x prisms due to an annoying astigmatism).
You can start with a PSA build or spend a bit more and get something better, but do not go crazy with your first AR. (Usually. Unless you want to buy a basic BCM, SOLGW, DD (not a preferred brand for reasons of them supporting the steppers way too much, but they make really good rifles).)
1000 rounds minimum of M193 or M855 depending on what shots better groups through that rifle. Plus training ammo. (Same concept as spend and replace.)
This is fantastic. Thank you.
Tactically a shot gun is most feared by Goveco. There is a reason they were outlawed in the Geneva Conventions. The lethal devastation that can be brought down with a shot gun is unparalleled. Any shot gun will do. They are cheap and can be deployed in most situations. Even long distance with a slug!
