I think tokenized bitcoin (ecash) will have its place eventually.

Scaling Bitcoin to 8 billion people requires it.

Do we need it now? No

Is it useful now? There's are some fringe usecases, but not many.

I personally prefer the fedi model of ecash where the trust is placed in a federation rather than a single person/company.

Cashu is not dependent on Bitcoin in any way shape or form. It’s a shitcoin without a blockchain. Just another Bitcoin Charlatan and his grift.

Interesting.

It's denominated in Bitcoin & involves a lot of trust.

Same deal with any custodial lightning wallet, Bitcoin exchange or any service that requires pre payment. It's a lot of trust & I'd be careful about my exposure.

I see no evidence of scamming, yet.

I think it's pretty poor form to shout accusations without any evidence.

It’s a scam to call cashu bitcoin.

It’s not Bitcoin. Full stop.

A year and half ago Calle was going around saying cashu was backed 1:1 with Bitcoin. That was a lie. I’ve heard people call it layer 3 bitcoin that is untrue. If you want to shitcoin go shitcoin but I t’s disingenuous to call cashu Bitcoin. The grift is trying to attach Bitcoin’s good name to a shitcoin.

Send me tictacs via snail mail and I’ll send you tictacash tokens that are 1 to 1 redeemable for tictacs at any tictac mint!

There orange so they must be bitcoin lol

Most definitely!

The ruggability is virtually the same

Not when you know the mint coordinators & have a long history with them.

If you pick some random federation then yeah same risk.
