Heroes of might and magic 3 is on gog.com and on sale right now
There is many old games on GOG. They are optimized to play on recent PC and Mac, so you don't losing time tweaking an emulator or vm, just install and play.
Age of empires 2 was remastered and you can get it on steam if I remember rightly
Joe! I have been playing HOMM3 Since it came out. In university I partitioned my hard drive so I could run windows and play.
I downloaded it from GOG.com a very long time ago. Still play it to this day.
I got the goods.
Steam has AoE II. You could get it from there for your laptop.

Loved AoE2, its available on steam which you are probably already aware of. there is also an open source clone of AoE called 0AD which is supposed to be very good though I have not tried it.

So on a phone it will be trickier, but possible. The general idea is that you install RetroArch, then in it install DOSBox-Pure, then you install Win98 and then you install AoE2. All this can be done on Android phone. I can guide you through the details if you would really be interested.
On laptop it becomes much easier. E.g. just follow https://aoe2.arkanosis.net/linux/
For heroes get gog complete edition, then install hdmod and https://h3hota.com there was quite a big update beginning of Jan. Also there is online lobby.
I play AoE II on Steam!
Both just work for me on steam and linux.
