Great as Plato is, especially in small quotes on singular issues, his ideas led to some truly spectacular misfires in philosophy over the centuries. For example the Republic is a pretty horrific description of an idealised Mega State, ruled by so called philosopher-kings (read "experts").

Horrors such as Hobbes Leviathion and Bentham's Panopticon are direct spiritual descendents of Plato, as are modern entities like the WEF. We also owe a lot of modern, relativist confusion to Plato, or at the very least, a misguided reading.
