It’s a sad reality of the “Bitcoin economy” that we have to use fiat. I think it’s only a matter of time until we see fiat-based “zaps” in nostr clients, and at this stage I’d welcome it because maybe we’d see some actual meaningful economic activity here. There are already some clients that offer fiat-based in-app purchases. A lot of Bitcoiners larp an wax eloquently about a parallel Bitcoin standard economy, but then they go and hoard sats and spend only dollars.
Kudos to nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 for choosing to degrade their own UX rather than comply with Apple’s demand to use fiat for zaps.
The problem is that we need to increase business adoption. That then transitions people from earning fiat and buying bitcoin, to earning bitcoin, saving bitcoin, spending bitcoin. If their source of income is Bitcoin it takes away the fiat option.

The backlash here is wild -- as if Primal doesn't also involve a KYC wallet for an optional feature. Not sure who this feature is for, but if you've had demand for it, good on ya for serving your customers.

Anything that involves captured, fiat payment rails will require KYC. This should not be surprising.
I was actually surprised that primal let me buy sats with Australian dollars without asking me for ID.
So used to everything requiring ID.
All the exchanges require ID, shit even Facebook made me upload photos of my licence to prove I'm over 16 years old when the government put through the legislation to ban people under 16 from using social media here.
Nostr has been a breath of fresh air for me.
