Renewed my Japanese driver license today. Glad to have that behind me for another 5 years. Had to sit through a class where I couldn’t understand much of anything. Fun fun.
I was lucky not to have to do anything to get my license in the first place as I came from WA state where they have an agreement with Japan for drivers license to carry over.
Glad to know you got your Japanese driver license renewal sorted despite the language barrier! I can imagine it might be tough trying to figure out what they were saying in class. Well, at least you do not have a need to worry about converting your license from another state with the agreement linking Japan drivers license acquisition process or learning to drive from scratch. Heh, my Californian friend had to go through the whole theory+practical course BS.
His Japanese is excellent so he didn't have any issues, but his American brain had trouble processing the very fact that he had to go through that.
My European brain didn't, because where I'm from we have to do exactly the same BS to get our license too.
Congrats! I feel like standing in line at DMV to renew my license is too much of a hassle, lol. I would just walk if I lived in Japan.
Sadly I would have to do it from the scratch. I should have done it when I was in living in Germany. I know it’s as painful, but at least I’m fluent in German. Learning Japanese language and also the driving in Japanese in the same time period will be a challenge.😒
