Hey man the noodles look fantastic , but I always wondered , what is the little white star with the pink swirl in the middle about ? Is it a special type of egg or something like that ?

Also , do Japanese people eat ham often ? Is that a traditional way of eating the noodles , or is that a recent addition ie . Within the last 100 years or so ?
