Things like raising taxes on billionaires and universal healthcare are actually favored by the majority of Americans, so I don't think they are wedge issues. The fact that these things never get any traction in Congress just shows that our elected officials don't really represent us. The government isn't incompetent just by virtue of it being a government, but by the design of the elite ruling class that pulls the strings. Governments are capable of being a benefit to society when they aren't corrupt bloated bureaucracies as ours has become.

Unfortunately we are stuck with what we have, and they will tax us anyway and spend the money as they see fit. We should at least try to prevent them from further consolidation of power until such a time when they can be brought down via non-violent revolution with Bitcoin, or just straight up violent revolution with guillotines and such.

So much of what you wrote I agree with. But majorities are sometimes wrong. Which is why some countries don’t have pure democracy. So just because a majority likes it, does not mean it is a good idea. Have a great Sunday
