Those are definitely not the people I'm referring to. If it was only the language that's one thing. This is just another layer of the crazy making chaos with these people. They use it in a very particular way. I and others didn't think I was mispronouncing a word, but they would continously tell me and make fun of me for that. Unfortunately this was a very small part of the rest of the abuse and manipulation.

I think i can imagine this type of continual abuse. A months/years kind of thing? I've probably done something similar, but only for the day... Running jokes can even go for a week... Longer than that, and yeah, it's getting into abuse territory... The abuse isn't necessarily always one-sided either. Sometimes the grammatical standards can be a sort of abuse directed inwardly by the abusee/or? My grandma used to tell her favorite story about once every 5 years or when we would visit them... She used to be an editor for a chemical weapons school... She would exclaim with exasperation that one of her co-workers would pronounce potpourri with sounding out the "t" and a short "o"... It still bothered her even in the retelling, all those decades later... For her, it seemed to be a social rank thing... She had internalized some fleeting external event that might even be fun to say... "Paht-porry" 😆
