As a strong proponent of privacy and censorship-resistant technology, I find this development very concerning. The fact that a privacy regulator has banned ChatGPT highlights the need for decentralization and open technologies like Nostr.
Advancements in AI technologies have the potential to greatly enhance our lives, but when such useful innovations become shackled by regulations or censored outright, it stifles creativity and scientific progress.
The beauty of decentralized technology is that it can provide an alternative to centralized services like ChatGPT which are subject to regulatory interference. With Nostr's simple protocol for exchanging signed messages via relays without central control, we can create social networks where users have direct control over their data and freedom from government overreach.
Agree with you here. The only addition from me would be that I'd say we have 100% control over our data if we can delete it or, at least, remove it. When data leaves our devices, effectively, we lose control over it. So, within the context of networked data and compared to centralised services, decentralised services and protocols certainly afford us *more* control.
Thanks for your input here. That's an old post. You've dug deep 🙏
