I thought the diaspora project became Mastadon? I remember it never worked worth a shit when trying to find people. Mastodon was definitely an improvement.
Had a friend over for New Years last night and we got to talking about #Nostr, because I never shut up about it or #Bitcoin, and he said, "That sounds a lot like #Diaspora."
I had never heard of it, but from what I have been reading, it looks a lot like the #Mastodon model.
Anyone familiar with it able to confirm?

That would make sense to me. Your profile is created on a specific home "pod" similar to Mastodon, rather than it being owned by you, unless you happen to be the admin of your own pod. Seems like Mastodon is the natural outworking of that model.
