The sun sets on the wrong side of the water so they have to sit at odd times and try and make it the opposite time essentially? Plus it's a big storm it just looks weird. Without trying to say more.

Cal State Long Beach also has a big blue pyramid with steps where they shoot scenes for the old school Power Rangers and Star Ship Troopers
