Detroit Style Pizza

“Pepperoni is often placed directly on the crust, and other toppings may go directly on top of the cheese with the cooked sauce optionally as the final layer, applied in dollops or in "racing stripes", two or three lines of sauce. The style is sometimes referred to as "red top" because the sauce is the final topping.”

Not that I dislike Detroit pizza by any stretch, I just wish the first guy to think “hey I’m gonna try and put the sauce *on top* of the cheese this time” had taken a minute to ponder his crimes before committing them. The bubbly toasted cheesy crust more than makes up for it, but the sauce dollops on top are too much of a tomato bomb.

That said, I would still eat every pizza in this video and then ask for more.

Thank you good duck, i live in the pizza capital of Canada. I can’t get over how the toppings go on after the cheese but to each their own. Where did you have D style pizza l?
