I’ve had a theory about American politics for awhile now that I call the race to Hitler. The republic is shifting to empire. Both sides are vying for their specific flavor of totalitarianism. The left wants communist oligarchy, the right wants an American Ceaser. I think technology is the underlying driver. Like Rome before it, America will have an extremely contentious relationship with their dictator, be he Stalin or Hitler. There will be much turmoil and ides of march style events as we whipsaw wildly between republic and empire. For the record I hope to be wrong about this theory.
