Its super early on and its a whole new dynamic in social media that is untested to me it whould be logical if it hits a critical mass zapps will be more used for educational content porn books creative stuff. Whatever people deem valueable over memes and connecting will be done with repost quotes or reactions

I wouldn't say this is completely untrod territory.

Helladoge.com is a mastodon instance that rewards users with doge coin. It federated with the larger Fediverse for a while and was a pretty fun place. Recently, the founder, Mahbod Moghadam, who created genius.com has disappeared, and it has become a zombie instance to my knowledge.

OnlyFans is another place where you can pay users for “social” interactions. Patreon and other such services come to mind as well.

Obviously, #nostr is different from all of these, but these are the case studies that come to mind when I think about integrating money into the sociality of a platform.

It's obvious to me that nostr is doing something entirely different from Twitter. I think that Bluesky or Twt2 are probably closer to being 'twitter clones' than nostr is.

I'm just wary of the direction we are heading. I want nostr to succeed too, and I am worried about what this might do to us.
