I ate a blueberry muffin today
Some relays might have size limits. But that still makes a pretty high character limit.
Rate limits? We barely even have character limits around here!
Just coming back to welcome everyone leaving twitter to nostr.
Im typically on Fedi, but I dont care what platform you join as long as its decentralized.
Make the internet free again!
More people should think like this. nostr:note1cj09qjw6k9s2dpy0gu0zcn0cqkzqtn06ge8rdlgytllk9y7xkv6qtyjesn

Ive got great news everyone. My Adventure time Comic cover scraper is finished.
Nostr’s first cool bot is incoming. 😎
Am I a hero? No. Am I widely respected? Also no. But do I own a belt? Pal, I got THREE belts
Happy Fourth nostr fam.
I am curious what pura vida means around here.
Thanks for the heads up!
I wouldn't say this is completely untrod territory.
Helladoge.com is a mastodon instance that rewards users with doge coin. It federated with the larger Fediverse for a while and was a pretty fun place. Recently, the founder, Mahbod Moghadam, who created genius.com has disappeared, and it has become a zombie instance to my knowledge.
OnlyFans is another place where you can pay users for “social” interactions. Patreon and other such services come to mind as well.
Obviously, #nostr is different from all of these, but these are the case studies that come to mind when I think about integrating money into the sociality of a platform.
It's obvious to me that nostr is doing something entirely different from Twitter. I think that Bluesky or Twt2 are probably closer to being 'twitter clones' than nostr is.
I'm just wary of the direction we are heading. I want nostr to succeed too, and I am worried about what this might do to us.
The concept of unfake-able engagement makes sense to me. I don't think it's bullet-proof, but I definitely understand the notion behind that idea.
Helps weed out the bots.
I just don't know about introducing money into social interactions. I think money detracts from the value of other forms of engagement. A better way to show someone you value their post might be to quote-share it with some verbal accolades. In some ways, I think that could show more support than a zap.
Never forget that Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Youtube et. al were all pretty cool places before advertising started happening on the platforms.
I fear that zaps might turn all of us into “advertisers” in one way or another. And thats why I bring all of this up.
FWIW I AM desperate to be heard. I feel like this is a pretty valid concern. I would love to create a discussion around it to see if anyone can offer any solid reasons for why zaps should stick around.
I am willing to allow someone to change my mind.

I wanted to give zaps an honest try.
But after only a week of usage my opinion only grows stronger.
I feel like zaps are keeping me from making deeper connections. It feels a lot like reddit karma. With all of the same problems.
I found that I kept coming back to the app to see if anyone had zapped me. Not to see if I had any new replies or to meet any new people.
At the end of the day, it seems like we are paying each other for friendships and I believe that is unhealthy.
Relationships should trump everything else on a social platform. “Award systems” that have intrinsic value pollute online environments.
Thinking about turning off my lightning wallet for a while.
I kinda want to make friends on here. But it seems like all Im making is money.
I feel kinda slimy about that tbh.
Twizzay lnurl shutting down for a while. Maybe forever. 🫡⚡️
Its when everyone loses their ever-loving minds.
And it starts when someone says #zapathon.
Tryna quote my first post. Hope I do this right.

Why. Yes. Yes you can.
