I did that once before. I won't be breaking my 5 year minimum rule, after that mistake 😆

Well, then make it a long engagement.
"Partner" sounds like you've joined forces, to open a liquor store or an attorneys' office. And "girlfriend" just means "flavor of the week" nowadays, really.
At least give her a respectable reserved seat, or something.

LOL Second woman is getting treated worse, but she's too low-value to inspire better.
His love simply falls short.
Don't expect a successful black woman to fall for rhetoric meant to denigrate the value of marriage.
We're slowly managing to crawl out of that particular hell.

Yep.
Not going to speak for him about his situation, but I'll try and ascribe it to mine with good intentions.
Without the use of 'low-value', could it be that my love falls short? Can't make an argument beyond a subjective one there, but question if it has something to do with not growing up embedded in a community with strong values. Only recently learning and understand their structures and purposes. Some wistfulness to have grown up in that environment and cultivating those values, but I do think I've passed over that window of time where it could have made a bigger impact on me.
Me, too. You probabaly handled it better than I did, though.
The divorce was amicable and without conflict.
Though at no part in the process, or anyone around us aware, that we needed a lawyer to write up and notarize a separation agreement for the future so that companies would consider us for mortgage agreements 😑 That was fun to find out.
How did yours go?
You're so lucky😅. It always feels really strange saying that to someone when talking about getting a divorce lol.
My divorce (and first marriage) was a nightmare, but it didn't take that long to settle everything since both her and I knew that it would never work out between us. I did let her keep our apartment, though, as I was just desperate to get away from her. Then I moved in with my parents for a few months and binge drank until it was finalized, after which I joined the Army.
