Which relays do I connect to?

If you check peoples pfp you can see the relays they are using. A mix of paid and free is optimal. If you look at mine I have some of the most popular ones.
Thanks. How do you know what is optimal? How did you choose the paid and why?
The paid relays deter a lot of the spammers as it puts a cost on their spam.
I look at popular accounts, accounts of developers, and designers to see which relays they are using. There are also a couple sites that show which paid relays perform the best but can’t remember them at the moment.
