Was talking about this yesterday. They need to combine the like and boost buttons so that whatever has the most engagement floats to the top off the feed more often imo.

On Twitter the like button acts as a signal to the Algo to show the tweet more, whereas here it does nothing except gives social proof or acknowledgement.

The only argument against this that I know of was brought up by #[1]. Basically, sometimes we just like something to acknowledge that we've read it and its not necessarily because it's worthy of further distribution in the feed.

But imo, one or two acknowledgements that boost the note isn't going to be enough to throw a feed into disarray. It'll be drowned out by the notes with more likes.

They'd need to somehow get the feed to only shows the latest like/boost of the post though so we didn't end up with a feed full of the same note.

Or they could make a like worth 1/2 a boost and its pushed to the top of the feed every even number? Idk. I feel like it needs something. So long as it's transparent then it's fine.
