Paid relays might not be the right move.
It makes sense for established users but does not help the newcomers.
Current Nostr experience = sign up using things you donβt understand and connect to things that make no sense, only to see a bunch of Chinese spam.
We may need to somehow extract topics from notes and start recommending those, or find a way to deal with global spam without the easy button.

Ive been on amethyst and snort for about a week or two and haven't paid for any relays yet haven't seen any spam.

Must be that choice of relays. Whatever they are doing is working. This needs to be across the board.
#[5] pushed out an anti-spam update a couple days ago so maybe that's it?
