I’ve gone down the monero rabbit hole and totally get it. Monero will always exist along with bitcoin. And I agree monero is more private etc. perhaps even superior money. There have been many smart people debating monero vs Bitcoin so I don’t think we will definitely resolve things in a thread. I would support monero development just like I would bitcoin. It doesn’t need to be one or the other. Both will exist. We are 99% on the same team. Once you use bitcoin as a payment rail you see it’s awesome. Maybe you wanna grab a beer one day and you can hit me over the head as to why monero will ‘win’. I just think the message needs to unified Becuase we both have the same goal and see the same problems in the world.

🤝

I can easily see Monero and Bitcoin coexisting with their own unique strengths.

Theyre both one of the extremely few truly decentralized crypto with similar visions. Ultimately, I'm a freedom maxi. I don't care what gets the job done and I hold and use both.

We often get lost in the sauce , but like you say we are 99% on the same page.

It was just because Jack was mentioning "censorship resistant" and that wouldn't be the case for BTC nowadays. That is my sole complaint because that kind of misinformation gets normal people in trouble.

Recently on the Canadian protests against forced lockdowns, the government blocked the bank accounts of protesters. When they turned to Bitcoin as alternative, those who donated were immediately flagged as supporters and labelled as agitators. That ain't censorship resistant, it is even worse than physically donating fiat money. Monero is meant from the start to be underground, you can exchange it on the street without computers involved.

Other than that, zapping is fun and should be more common, very happy that nostr here made it so easy. Would totally go for a beer.

100% - the message is that Bitcoin is bulletproof that human traffickers, drug dealers and hackers use it. but it can 100% be tracked. You’d be dumb to use bitcoin for those purposes I’d say. Monero is a much wiser choice for the dark web.

I’m obviously I’m in Esposende. You can DM me your location if you want to stay anon and we can meetup. Or you can visit Esposende and you can pay in sats. 🚀🚀

Which darknet sites do you know where BTC is accepted? It's been quite a while that everyone worth their salt has moved to monero.

Even this week the BTC robbers from Mount Gox had their identities exposed precisely because that coin is too difficult to laundry: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/russian-nationals-charged-hacking-one-cryptocurrency-exchange-and-illicitly-operating-another

Anyways, what should matter most is the censor resistant aspect. Authorities are simply unable to chase you for donating money to whatever cause you want to support.
