Does nostr use vastly more bandwith than Twitter? Currently, I'm on a limited mobile subscription, and nostr uses 10-20 times more bandwith.
I use Iris.to. It uses approximately 1GB per 10 min, just browsing.
Is this correct or is it something in the settings?
Sometimes Iris is slow, it says "loading posts" very often.
I have a 100-200 Mbps download/upload connection.

It does. Not so optimized yet. You are pulling notes from all relays at all times.

Much more than Twitter. With twitter, you download the content once - from the centralized authority. On #Nostr, the content is coming from all relays, all at once.
You could limit your relays to one or two quality ones.
Yes, that’s the trade-off for freedom. Will probably be optimised later on
Yep def an issue. Media.nostr.band helped solve partially for some clients. The issue is/was profile pics.
