New poll shows 47% of Albertans want out. Canada’s prevalence of fear, compliance and control doesn’t fit with Alberta’s distinct and unique culture. It’s going to be an interesting year.

Is there a real mechanism to make that happen? Genuinely ignorant
Yes 💯. It’s called the clarity act and Canada is one of the only parliamentary democracies that allows a province to leave the country. It may require another country (like the US for example) to recognize their independence, but there is a clear and legally documented path for it to happen.
Rooting for Alberta!
👀
How would that work? Land locked except for the US? And what happens to BC? Could you guys maybe take BC by force? Cause Vancouver island is 🔥 and I’d probably try to get residency with yall.
Lots of successful countries landlocked. BC would be cutoff from the rest of Canada, so they would want to make transport deals. They would also love some money to ship/send resources through their province.
The US has been kinder to Alberta, than the easterners have ever been and will gladly continue to purchase our oil.
Once Sask and most of BC witnesses the succcess of Alberta’s secession, who knows?
Every-time I have asked why these never leaver's to name one reason to stay, they have no answer! Why can't they just build a case on why Alberta should stay? Why is their argument completely based in ancient sentiments and colonial yearning.
Because that’s what their identity is based on. They aren’t able to see that their understanding of who/what they are, is based on a model that no longer exists.
It still does here and I believe there are enough people here (old timers and newcomers) that understand it and will protect it by any means necessary, which really means walking away from a federation that has always been, and which was founded on, the ability to extract wealth from the west to feed the east.
I agree. Been talking to new Somalians. The joke is on the feds... They thought they would flood Alberta with liberal voting Somalians and they would liberalize Alberta. They were wrong. Somalians are very much on the side of separation and have very conservative values! lol
💯 Not to generalize but many of the Nigerian, and south Asian communities, are also very conservative and want a future for their kids too.
