I ( used to ) listen to a morning radio program called "Marty in the Morning'" .

It's Irish radio , so it mostly consists of idle banter ( known more colloquially as talking shite ) , which is why I was taken aback when the presenter, Marty Whelan , infamous for his idle chit-chat, started talking about a new " cashless" shop at the airport that uses facial recognition technology linked to your debit-card details.

He was singing it's virtues through an allegory of a man who was late for his plane but somehow couldn't do without a sandwich , and that this dystopian technology saved the day .

I don't really listen to him anymore if I'm being honest .

One of the last few radio programmes that I thought was free from propaganda , oh well .

There is are only two programmes left that are in any way tolerable and they are "Blue of the Night" and "Mystery Train" , both oh which are on Lyric fm .

I used to love the radio, but it is riddled with propaganda now , it's just unbearable . I only listen to the radio now if one of those afformentied shows are on the air and I'm in the mood for a bath , or if I'm taking a shit and I need background noise so that nobody can hear me dropping bombs, but that is it .

gone are they days of the radio being insufferable due to the tune selection. nowadays, it's the talking heads...

To be honest with you , it's the news . I have to rush to the radio when the news comes on to turn it off , because it puts me on a fucking downer man .

made me laugh dude. that's exactly what I do.

kind of makes you realise what the function of the news is, when you first try changing station... and you realise they're all pumping out the narrative, in unison...

you either get your daily dose, unable to flip away, or turn the whole thing off altogether...

And yeah , the tunes were always shte for the most part , but I always bring a radio with me when I'm hiking or camping , and I've listened to it quite a bit over the years , and it is just wall to wall propaganda now , it's insane .
