I ( used to ) listen to a morning radio program called "Marty in the Morning'" .
It's Irish radio , so it mostly consists of idle banter ( known more colloquially as talking shite ) , which is why I was taken aback when the presenter, Marty Whelan , infamous for his idle chit-chat, started talking about a new " cashless" shop at the airport that uses facial recognition technology linked to your debit-card details.
He was singing it's virtues through an allegory of a man who was late for his plane but somehow couldn't do without a sandwich , and that this dystopian technology saved the day .
I don't really listen to him anymore if I'm being honest .
One of the last few radio programmes that I thought was free from propaganda , oh well .
There is are only two programmes left that are in any way tolerable and they are "Blue of the Night" and "Mystery Train" , both oh which are on Lyric fm .
I used to love the radio, but it is riddled with propaganda now , it's just unbearable . I only listen to the radio now if one of those afformentied shows are on the air and I'm in the mood for a bath , or if I'm taking a shit and I need background noise so that nobody can hear me dropping bombs, but that is it .
